CNC Operator

Your main responsibilities

  • Observe all company rules and safety practices.
  • Inspect production for conformance to specifications (first piece inspection).
  • Operates DNC controlled shear, punch, forming machine, laser and automated warehouse. Utilizes punches, dies, measuring tape, hand tools, digital protractor, calipers and other equipment.
  • Select and load raw material required and initiate production.
  • Interface with computer system for production control, program editing, preventive maintenance, and SAP.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as but not limited to oil and lubrication, utilizing the F&L Process.
  • Assist in the determination of root cause of production errors and take corrective measures for prevention.
  • Maintain and rebuild tooling, monitor tooling inventory and coordinate ordering of new tooling as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of other spare parts and consumables. Coordinate with Maintenance personnel to order as needed.
  • Monitor steel inventory and load steel into machine. Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure sufficient inventory to meet production requirements.
  • Responsible for input and output of raw material into automated warehouse.
  • Responsible for work in process with the automated warehouse.
  • Responsible for scrap utilization and scrap hoppers.
  • Remove completed parts from end of line and place in carts or racks, and deliver to next location.
  • Provide input to manufacturing personnel with regard to production.
  • Provide input to maintenance with regard to system operation, maintenance, and system performance.
  • Operator is responsible for quality of finish work.
  • Utilize Total Preventive Maintenance system (TPM) and 5S training.
  • Maintain required record keeping.
  • Perform other duties as instructed or necessitated by change or condition.
  • Provide suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement of our operation (i.e. run time and machine availability).

What you bring

Education:


Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the used of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and various types of precision measuring instruments and/or the training generally applicable in a particular or specialized occupation. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training and H.S. diploma or GED.



Experience:


Over 1 year up to and including 3 years.



Initiative and Ingenuity:


Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations, and processes with the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.



Physical Demand:


Light physical effort consisting of *

* Continuously lifting or moving very light-weight material, or

* Continuously lifting or moving material of negligible weight in difficult work positions, or

* Frequently lifting or moving light-weight material, or

* Frequently lifting or moving very light-weight material in difficult work positions, or

* Occasionally lifting or moving average-weight material, or

* Rarely lifting or moving average-weight material in difficult work positions, or

In each case expending equivalent effort pulling, pushing, carrying, shoveling or stretching.

 

Mental or Visual Demand:


Continuous mental and visual attention; usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.



     
 

Responsibility for Material or Product:


Attention to the automated warehouse and daily work schedule. Both raw material and finished product must be placed in proper locations within the automated warehouse. Materials not stored correctly could result in product be made from wrong materials. Probable loss over $5000, but seldom over $12,000.

 

Responsibility for Safety of Others:


Proper attention must be given to safety. Personal protective equipment must be used as well as correct lifting techniques when handling product. Operator will be responsible that other employees are in a safe area of travel.


Inattention, thoughtlessness or careless operation of equipment or performance of duties may cause lost-time injury to others such as crushed hand or foot, loss of fingers or toes, eye injuries.


 

Computer Skills:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate a PC with "Windows". Must be able to function in a PC network to facilitate production control with programming group. Audit / edit programs and nesting as needed.
