The Sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Intern role will be to an opportunity to work with a Global Leader in Sustainability and ESG. This internship os expected to begin January 5, 2026 and will end May 29, 2026.

In this Houston based role you will work with site teams across North America to develop, update, and maintain Environmental and Societal Action Plans in alignment with ENGIE policies, identify best management practices (BMPs), and produce community reports that highlight site activities, stakeholder engagement, and ENGIE's mission. You'll assist in facilitating climate and biodiversity workshops and trainings to raise awareness and understanding of sustainability, support the development of sustainability communications for ENGIE North America, and managing company-wide decarbonization programs.




  • You will uphold ENGIE's safety culture and confidentiality expectations in all activities
  • You will attend and participate in internal and external meetings
  • You will communicate using email, Teams meetings, and phone calls
  • You'll work with all sites to develop, update, and maintain Environmental and Societal Action Plans in alignment with ENGIE policies
  • You will identify Best Management Practices (BMPs) and create implementation strategies using each site's Action Plan as the backbone
  • You will develop and produce site-level community reports that summarize the site profile, stakeholder interactions, and ENGIE context; coordinating review and distribution across all sites
  • You'll support environmental and carbon reporting for our businesses
  • You will assist in organizing and managing company-wide decarbonization programs
  • You will assist in developing sustainability communications for ENGIE North America



What You'll Bring



  • You must be currently enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university
  • This role requires a minimum of three (3) years of environmental science/engineering or sustainability coursework
  • Ability to think critically and act independently
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and driven to complete tasks at hand
  • Comfortable delivering presentations and facilitating training
  • Multi-tasking
  • An inquisitive mindset
  • Demonstrates integrity and reliability in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Bonus: basic data visualization (Power BI/Tableau), GHG accounting concepts, stakeholder engagement experience, and capable of writing / storytelling.

  • You must be able to meet highest attendance requirements
  • You must have the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, and to effectively communicate data digitally to stakeholders
  • You possess the ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • You have the ability to use a personal computer, and standard Microsoft Office products
  • This role could involve some lifting

Compensation

Hourly Range: $23.50 - $28.50 USD hourly

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
