Our Company

Changing the world through digital experiences is what Adobe's all about. We give everyone-from emerging artists to global brands-everything they need to design and deliver exceptional digital experiences! We're passionate about empowering people to create beautiful and powerful images, videos, and apps, and transform how companies interact with customers across every screen.

We're on a mission to hire the very best and are committed to creating exceptional employee experiences where everyone is respected and has access to equal opportunity. We realize that new ideas can come from everywhere in the organization, and we know the next big idea could be yours!

The Opportunity

Adobe has a world-class research that provides an ideal balance of academic discovery and industry impact: that's what drives our groundbreaking work at Adobe Research. Our research scientists, engineers, artists and designers shape experimental ideas into innovative technologies for Adobe Products.

During the past 25 years, Adobe PDF has been a defacto digital format for sharing and distributing documents in reliable manners. Adobe Document Cloud is revolutionizing the way the world works with documents and is growing rapidly. As we enter in the new era of AI-powered digital businesses, we continue to strive to invent, design and productize the documents of the future and redefine the user experiences around the documents.

This is a pivotal moment to shape how Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision-Language Models (VLMs), and Multimodal Large Models (MLLMs) redefine document understanding, creation, and collaboration. Adobe's Document Intelligence Lab (DIL) is at the forefront of this transformation, pioneering AI technologies that make documents not only readable-but reasoning, adaptive, and agentic.

What you'll Do

As a Senior Research Scientist in Document Intelligence Lab (DIL), you will provide technical leadership in research, architect and develop machine learning solutions at scale in the following areas:

  • Conduct foundational and applied research in generative modeling, multimodal learning, and document understanding-including text, layout, structure, and visual semantics.
  • Develop scalable architectures and pipelines leveraging LLMs, VLMs, and MLLMs for intelligent document summarization, authoring assistance, workflow automation, and multi-document reasoning.
  • Invent new paradigms for AI-powered document collaboration, where models understand user intent, context, and goals-transforming documents into living, interactive experiences.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in Document Cloud, Acrobat, and Creative Cloud to translate research breakthroughs into product innovations.
  • Publish research in top-tier conferences and drive the frontier of AI for productivity, creativity, and communication.
  • Mentor junior researchers and foster collaboration across Adobe Research and product organizations globally.
What You Bring
  • PhD or equivalent research experience in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, multimodal AI, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in deep learning architectures, large-scale training, post-training alignment (SFT, RLHF, RLAIF), or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Experience working with foundation models (LLMs, VLMs, or MLLMs) and understanding their limitations, opportunities, and adaptation for enterprise-scale document tasks.
  • Strong publication record in leading conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ACL, ICCV, ICLR).
  • Passion for bridging academic research with real-world applications and shaping the next generation of AI-driven document experiences.
