About the Job

Job Description:
Research work in molecular and cellular neuroscience/stem cell lab for disease modeling using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), as well as in-vivo work involving
transgenic mice. The research goals are to deepen the understanding of the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and to identify novel pathways and targets for the development of therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities:
100% of the incumbent's effort is to perform duties as follows:
1. The incumbent is expected to manage his/her own research projects/experiments with some supervision. This includes conducting literature searches and reading independently about the research questions, planning the experimental setup, utilizing the most appropriate assays to evaluate experimental methods and techniques and interpreting the results.
2. The incumbent is expected to develop new protocols that incorporate new techniques or technologies to support the research in the lab.
3. The incumbent is expected to be able to troubleshoot experimental problems with minimal supervision in order to maintain consistency in the research and to ensure that the research continues in a timely manner.
4. The incumbent is expected to report research results through presentations at lab meetings or scientific meetings, as well as prepare manuscripts for publication.
5. The incumbent is expected to assist with grant submissions by performing data analysis, preparing figures and graphs, and contributing to the writing process. The incumbent will also ensure that grant protocols and regulations are being met.
6. As the projects advance in the lab, the lab's needs may change. The incumbent is expected to assist with other projects in the lab when needed.
7. The incumbent is expected to provide training to others in the lab including junior research professionals and students with experimental techniques and research tools.
8. The Incumbent may have authority to supervise student employees.
9. The incumbent is expected to assume some laboratory management responsibilities, which may include maintaining lab cleanliness, overseeing equipment repairs, organizing laboratory protocols, and managing supplies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
- PhD with one or more years of research training
- Experience in cell culture, rodents, biochemical molecular and cellular biological techniques in neuroscience or stem cell biology.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $59,361-$70,906; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
