Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of University Career Services ( UCS) is to support the mission of the University and Student Affairs by providing personalized and innovative career education to empower student success and transformation. Our vision is for all UNC-Chapel Hill students to create lives of purpose and prosperity in alignment with their personal goals.

University Career Services serves to educate students on career development and management processes, teach students about competencies needed for success, and make connections between students and employers. UCS collaborates with faculty, employers, and other departments across campus for mutual sharing of information and coordination of programs for student development.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Heels Engage Coordinator oversees the management and daily operations of the Heels Engage platform (powered by PeopleGrove), a career access and mentoring solution that connects students, alumni, and friends of the community. This role supports networking, mentorship, and career development initiatives by facilitating user engagement, maintaining alignment with institutional branding and goals, and leveraging platform analytics for strategic insights. The coordinator ensures smooth integration with campus systems, promotes inclusive access to career resources, and supports the growth and sustainability of mentoring and engagement programs.

Reporting to the Director of Career Education in the Career Center, and partnering closely with the assigned school administration, the Heels Engage Coordinator plays a central role in creating and sustaining experiences that connect students to alumni in a meaningful way. The position requires strong project management skills, interpersonal skills, data analysis and technology proficiencies.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of one year of experience in project management, career services, alumni relations, public relations, communications or related field required. Proficiency with technology including digital platforms, videoconferencing, survey, and project management software. Strong project management, organizational, multi-tasking skills; ability to work autonomously, proactively take initiative, troubleshoot and resolve issues. Strong interpersonal, communications, and relationship-building skills to engage with varied partners, volunteer leaders, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, vendors, and others to support and grow Heels Engage. Prepare clear, accurate, and timely communications to promote and inform various constituencies on the features and merits of Heels Engage (e.g., email messages, postings, online discussions, events, agendas, meeting notes). Ability to work through complex issues requiring judgment and keeping confidential information. Unwavering commitment to the highest of ethical standards and professional integrity. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience in higher education or related field. Prior experience with formal mentoring programs. Program planning and a history of collaboration across a large and complex institution. Analytical mind and problem solver with ability to think systemically. Working knowledge of PeopleGrove software. Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
