Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Infection Preventionist

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated Infection Preventionist to join our expert Infection Prevention & Control team. In this vital role, you'll lead initiatives to monitor, prevent, and control infections across our diverse settings. Your work will directly support MSK's mission to provide exceptional, evidence-based, and compassionate care-while advancing patient safety and public health.

Role Overview:

  • Lead efforts to prevent and control healthcare-associated infections across the institution.
  • Conduct surveillance of infection outcomes and process measures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collect and analyze data, investigate outbreaks, observe clinical practices, participate in patient rounds, and deliver targeted education.
  • Design and implement evidence-based interventions to enhance infection prevention and control.
  • Address infection-related concerns within the hospital and in the broader community that may impact patient care.
  • Contribute to the development of infection control policies and serve as a trusted resource for administrators, clinicians, staff, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders and area leaders in conducting environment of care rounds.

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles, microbiology, and epidemiology.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, outbreak investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with electronic health records and infection surveillance software.
  • Help to set infection control policies and serves as a resource to administrators, physicians, staff, and the community regarding infection control practices.
  • Conduct environment of care rounds and other site visits
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to educate and engage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to lead projects, influence change, and collaborate across departments.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in identifying and addressing infection risks.

Core Skills:

  • 3-4 years' work experience in an Infection Prevention & Control; experience working in ambulatory care setting is preferred
  • Familiarity with infection surveillance systems (e.g., NHSN) and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred

Additional Information:

  • Location: Across all MSK Outpatient Locations (Transportation Provided)
  • Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday with Friday with planned and as needed on-call weekend shifts
  • Reporting to: Ambulatory Manager, Infection Prevention & Control

Pay Range: $100,600.00 - $161,000.00 FSLA Status: Exempt
