Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for building technical capability across the Flour Milling Platform to develop self-sufficient autonomous teams. The Maintenance Supervisor works to improve the reliability of the system through ownership of defect handling, breakdown elimination and planning & scheduling.

In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor works to eliminate losses following a rigorous daily process that is data driven and focused on root cause elimination. The Maintenance Supervisor is the Planned Maintenance System owner for the Flour Mill. A large portion of a Maintenance Supervisor's day will be spent on the floor with the mechanics and operators building the team's technical understanding and mastery.

The Maintenance Supervisor will be accountable for a crew on 1st shift with core hours of 7am - 3pm, but flexible to arrive early and stay late as needed.

People Leadership

  • Manage and direct the work of the maintenance mechanics and electricians inclusive of staffing, performance management, and onboarding
  • Role model Engaging Leader behaviors
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize team effectiveness (communication and collaboration)
  • Provide clear individual priorities and team goals to deliver platform priorities
  • Cultivate a floor centric, positive, and supportive team environment to foster employee engagement and retention
  • Supports and leads capability development of the platform members to identify, measure and drive out equipment losses to deliver targeted system results
  • Cover Mill Team Leader responsibilities during short-term absences

Process Leadership and Ownership

  • Lead portions of the daily, weekly and monthly direction setting meetings
  • Own several daily management systems across the platform and accountable to coach/develop technician system owners who own these systems across the platform:
    • Defect Handling: Facilitates documentation of standards with mechanics, electricians, operators and coaches team members through the identification, prioritization, and resolution of defects
    • Breakdown Elimination: Identifies of triggers and ensures breakdown elimination implementation of countermeasures
    • Planning and Scheduling: Plans, schedules, and assigns work (corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance) including shutdown planning
  • Develops a deep understanding of all Foundational Systems (Clean Inspect Lubricate, Centerline, Breakdown Elimination, Defect Handling, etc.) to optimize coaching span of influence and loss analysis
  • Partners with the Engineering organization on capital and product commercialization

Know your Operation, Data, and Technology

  • This is a highly technical position that requires delivering critical technical expertise to eliminate equipment losses, including:
    • Analysis of equipment performance and improvement of component life
    • Tracking and reporting of maintenance measurement data in Maximo
  • Manages the annual budget for maintenance and reliability costs for the Mill (materials, services, labor)
  • Ensures data integrity of the maintenance management system (Maximo)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Practitioner level experience performing maintenance or similar skilled work in a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of mechanical processes, encompassing both hands-on and theoretical aspects
  • Understanding of maintenance and reliability performance metrics
  • Demonstrated skills in engaging leader behaviors, problem solving, coaching, and training

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Practical knowledge of Maximo and Planning & Scheduling

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $70100.00 - $105200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
