POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant I

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position is part of a team analyzing the role of RNA modifications in cancer using metabolomics, mass spectrometry of RNA, and Ribo-seq analysis. The study involves reproducible growth and maintenance of human cell lines in response to metabolic challenges, and preparation of biomass. The Research Assistant is expected to develop reproducible growth protocols that ensure consistency and are supported by thorough documentation and meticulous attention to detail.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:




  • Growth and maintenance of human cell lines.


  • Assistance with downstream protocols, including cell lysis and preparation of samples for subsequent metabolomics, RNA mass spectrometry, or Ribo-seq.
  • Rigorous record keeping.
  • Participation in group meetings and team meetings.
  • Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained.
  • Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master's degree, 0-2 years experience required.
  • Experience with human cell culture techniques is strongly preferred.
  • Additional experience with quantitative biochemical and biophysical techniques is very beneficial for the team.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment.

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $20.67 to $25.06 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
