Job Summary


Involves services such as individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, outreach and programming. Provides services for a range of conditions including academic or job stress, parent-child problems, substance abuse, anxiety, trauma recovery, depression or social phobia. Services may be provided by a combination of licensed clinicians, as well as counselors and crisis intervention specialists.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications


  • Acquiring knowledge associated with professional visitation service provision, methods, procedures, and standards.
  • A minimum of 1-2+ years of experience in a human services related field (or years of education in a human services field beyond High School)
  • Knowedge of and experience with trauma-informed practices.
  • Familiarity with child development stages and milestones, presentation of child exposure to domestic violence, and child abuse prevention resources.
  • Experience working with children and/or families from diverse backgrounds;
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English
  • Aptitude for conflict de-escalation, conflict resolution, and limit setting
  • Ability to identify when to escalate issues and situations to senior providers
  • General PC knowledge
  • High School Graduation/GED

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working directly with families experiencing obstacles or in conflict, primarily domestic violence.
  • Experience with case management and/or social work.
  • Fluency in a second language preferred, particularly Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish or Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).
  • Database knowledge and experience.
  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or related field
