Job Description

The Intellectual Property Paralegal provides legal assistance to our team of Intellectual Property attorneys. You will be a liaison between company attorneys, outside counsel, third-party vendors, and in-house employees. You will compile metrics and data from intellectual property management software. You will prepare and file legal documents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and research projects as directed by corporate attorneys. You will report to our VP and Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Daily review and processing of outside counsel communications; verify docketing in Anaqua; forward to US OC or in-house counsel, if appropriate
  • Manage in-house attorney dockets
  • Review and process all patent invoices for all patent attorneys
  • Manage disclosure submissions in Anaqua
  • Liaise and monitor patent review committees; keep up to date in Anaqua
  • Initiate US and foreign filings with outside counsel
  • Weekly budget monitoring to manage outside counsel WIP
  • Take data from different sources, compare and contrast to identify trends in spend and follow budget; initiate meetings regarding same
  • Take data and create informational quarterly reports to monitor patent portfolio, outside counsels, patent review committees and annuities
  • Manage patent annuity system
  • Manage foreign filing deadlines
  • Manage and review monthly patent awards prepared by IP Assistant
  • Produce and support annual budget planning and quarterly budget reviews
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate
  • Five years experience in IP
  • Experience supporting IP in a global corporate legal department.
  • Experience with Anaqua or similar IP management software
  • Experience translating data and analytics into a compelling story.
  • Knowledge of US Patent and Trademark Office procedures regarding filing and prosecution of patents
  • Other responsibilities as assigned (i.e., platform migration, assignment projects, patent acquisition integration into current platform, perform research, yearly government reports)
