The Power Electronics team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation. As a Senior Industrial Electrician, you will be instrumental in safeguarding and optimizing our lab operations, blending technical mastery with a systematic approach to setup, testing, and continuous improvement.


What You'll Do
  • Design, set up, and maintain advanced lab test environments for medium voltage systems (up to 40kV), including precise wiring, connections, and equipment configuration to support engineer-led testing and validation of power electronics technologies
  • Develop, implement, and enforce rigorous safety practices, including creating and updating lab operating procedures to meet high-voltage safety standards and align with Tesla's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) policies
  • Provide expert feedback on test setups, designs, and operational processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and performance, directly contributing to design iterations and technological advancements
  • Conduct hands-on troubleshooting and detailed analysis of electrical and electromechanical systems in medium voltage environments, identifying root causes and executing effective corrective measures
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and industry standards during all testing activities, with a focus on medium voltage applications, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Support the assembly, testing, and evaluation of engineering prototypes to validate design hypotheses and uncover opportunities for optimization
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate specialized electrical test equipment, ensuring precision and reliability in medium voltage testing operations
  • Identify and implement process improvements in lab operations to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety, driving continuous operational excellence
  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including design, reliability, and test engineers, to resolve technical challenges and advance product development
  • Oversee material inventory for electrical setups, managing procurement and organization of components essential for high-voltage testing

What You'll Bring
  • Extensive hands-on experience as an industrial electrician, with specialized expertise in medium voltage systems (up to 40kV), encompassing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in industrial or lab settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high-voltage safety protocols, testing methodologies, and validation processes, with a proven track record in ensuring compliance and safety
  • Proficiency in electrical fabrication, mastery of hand and power tools, and experience with wiring harnesses, connectors, and medium voltage equipment assembly
  • Capability to independently disassemble and reassemble complex electrical systems, showcasing exceptional technical proficiency in medium voltage applications
  • Working knowledge of standard electronics lab tools, including AC/DC meters, data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, and high-voltage testing instruments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical systems in medium voltage contexts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a background in documenting test setups, safety protocols, and providing detailed feedback on designs
  • Ability to excel both independently and within cross-functional teams, demonstrating self-motivation, initiative, and adaptability in a dynamic environment
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., with frequent standing, walking, and bending in a fast-paced lab setting
  • Certification as an industrial electrician (e.g., journeyman level) is highly desirable; experience with CAD software or electrical design tools is a valuable asset

    Expected Compensation
    $28.80 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
