DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will supervise and lead an inmate work crew, providing instruction, guidance, and hands-on training in automotive mechanics. Your duties will include teaching inmates proper techniques for repairing and maintaining motorized vehicles, as well as rebuilding and replacing components in cars, trucks, farm equipment, and small engines. Additional responsibilities include managing work crews to complete automotive work orders, planning and assigning daily tasks, and inspecting completed projects to ensure quality standards are met. You will also conduct safety orientations and training sessions for inmates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider.
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
