Join Our Dynamic Market Transformation Team

We are looking for an Energy Analyst to join our growing Market Transformation team! This role will report to the Product Development Manager, Residential HVAC. The Market Transformation team is responsible for accelerating the adoption of energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies. As an Energy Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting with market research; data cleaning, preparation, and analysis; administrative duties; and a variety of other tasks needed to support the ETA team.

CEE launched a statewide market transformation program in 2023 called the Efficient Technology Accelerator, with committed and growing funding from the State of Minnesota and its utilities. This program accelerates and rapidly scales the development and adoption of emerging energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies. This position would primarily support research and analysis needs related to emerging residential HVAC opportunities and established initiatives, mainly focusing on air source heat pumps.

What You'll Do

Data Analysis & Visualization



  • Design, update, and maintain interactive data dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R Studio, and Excel.
  • Research HVAC products and create mapping keys to align product data with energy efficiency specifications.
  • Maintain, clean, and organize large datasets and repositories to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Review rebate program documentation and product specifications to identify and fill data gaps.
  • Collaborate with the ETA data team to inform and refine data acquisition strategies from internal and external sources.
  • Estimate energy savings for various energy efficiency measures using diverse inputs and modeling techniques.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis and run/develop/improve energy models using R and Python to support program evaluation and measure performance.


Technology Evaluation



  • Monitor national and regional developments in emerging technologies, particularly heat pump systems.
  • Support the development of technical assessments and best practices for new and innovative technologies.
  • Collaborate with ETA and Research teams to evaluate the performance and market potential of emerging energy-efficient solutions.



Market Intelligence & Strategy



  • Track market trends and technology advancements to inform strategic planning and program development.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence to support the design of new and evaluation of existing initiatives.
  • Create compelling visualizations and reports tailored to various audiences, including utilities, regulators, and industry partners.



Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Work closely with engineering, research, and program teams to support technical analysis and program implementation.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and assist in the development of technical documentation and deliverables.



Other duties as assigned or apparent.

Skills & Knowledge We're Looking For



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an analyst or similar role, preferably in the energy or sustainability sector.
  • Strong motivation to contribute to the energy efficiency and sustainability sectors.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex data.
  • Proven experience in data cleaning, analysis, modeling, and visualization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS, and R Studio.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, data science, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with programming languages such as R and Python for data analysis and modeling.
  • Knowledge of residential HVAC systems and energy efficiency technologies.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling tools and techniques.
  • Experience working with utility rebate programs or energy efficiency incentive structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling deliverables.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and contributing to collaborative projects.



Compensation

Dependent on qualifications and experience, we expect the compensation range for this position will be $27-28.50/hr
