Job Summary: The Assistant VP-Hospital PBO (Patient Billing Office) provides implementation of the strategic plan and direction for claims and collection functions for all LLUH hospitals. Supports the achievement of Revenue Cycle key performance metrics and the organization's overall financial performance with optimal revenue capture. Supports the overall patient experience by providing consistent, excellent, measurable service standards and industry best practice tools and processes. This position is required to identify and build collaborative partnerships across all aspects of the revenue cycle teams, administrative stakeholders and clinical leaders. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum seven years of leadership experience in back-end of revenue cycle operations required. Three years of experience with the following systems: EPIC Resolute application implementation and optimization, productivity systems and benchmarking systems preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of admissions, insurances in California, medical terminology, and pre-registration functions preferred. Able to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Able to write speeches and prepare reports for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Able to effectively present information to all audiences. Able to analyze data; proofread documents for content and context accuracy; recognize and appropriately report safety problems and other problematic situations. Able to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to read; write and speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
