Automation Intern Location: Lewisville, TX About this opportunity: The Smart Factory has begun commercial operations in early 2020 and will be powered by Ericsson 5G solutions tailored for the industrial environment. Fast and secure 5G connectivity will enable agile operations and flexible production. Ericsson's 5G industrial solutions include automated warehouses, connected logistics, automated assembly, packing and product handling, and the use of autonomous carts. Smart Manufacturing will allow Ericsson to create transparent, optimized and autonomous systems that can analyze and diagnose issues without human intervention. We will accomplish this by automating the production of our product portfolio and by implementing use cases like: Advanced Optical Inspections (AOI) to improve quality, Augmented reality to shorten time to competence build ups, digital thread and digital twins to simulate our production processes. We will leverage advanced technologies like Edge Computing, Cloud Services, IoT Sensors with Real-Time Data, Machine Learning, AI & 5G Connectivity. Smart Manufacturing will allow Ericsson to aggressively boost productivity and improve our manufacturing processes to drive growth. The Industry 4.0 -Automation Engineer Intern will be supporting the architectural and engineering requirements to implement automation of a robotic platform for Ericsson's USA 5G Smart Factory. What you will do: * Be responsible for supporting the development of automation solutions adapted to the manufacturing of Ericsson products. * Work with engineers, product owners, project managers and factory leadership to create smart automation solutions within Ericsson's manufacturing ecosystem. * Work and implement engineering requirements for platform development including production, final assembly, warehousing and material automation & testing. * Ensure the site uses state of the art automated processes and technology. * Support NPI projects by working to design and build automation solutions for successful introduction of new products, production and test concepts from design phase to volume production. * Support the global supply organization in outbound/inbound production transfers. The skills you bring: * Working towards a Bachelor's or master's degree in technical or engineering area or the equivalent level of experience. * Understanding of programming for manufacturing, automation, and robotics solutions. * Ability to successfully communicate highly technical capabilities to senior leadership. * Understanding of Agile ways of working. * Exposure to processes such as screw driving, dispensing, vision inspection, vision guidance, mechanical assembly, lensing & lighting, material handling is a plus Why join Ericsson?
