POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing and operational processes, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, proven problem-solving ability, and hands-on experience implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, quality, and sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Analyze existing production processes and identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and quality enhancement.
  • Develop, document, implement, and optimize process designs, operating procedures, and control strategies.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for process upsets, equipment failures, and quality deviations.
  • Support capital projects, including process design, equipment selection, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain) to implement best practices and transfer new processes into production.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to management and production staff.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, process flow diagrams, and process hazard analyses.
  • Manage the Quality Management System. Train, coach, and create an accountability process for managers and supervisors on adherence to continued editing and training on Work Instructions, availability and access to Work Instructions on the floor, and supervision of the Corrective Action Reports (CARs) to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, industry certifications, and company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in process engineering within manufacturing
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience in driving measurable operational improvements

SYSTEM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in ERP Systems
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with manufacturing Quality Management Systems
  • Project Management software such as Microsoft Project
  • CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks for designing and modeling

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • This position operates primarily in a manufacturing floor setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and wool fiber dust.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, sit, stand, and move about the floor.
  • This position requires visual acuity to review product layouts, blueprints, schematics, and process designs.
  • The position requires manual dexterity to make comprehensive repairs and adjustments to the machinery in the mill, as well as to determine product quality.
  • This position requires the ability to visually evaluate the products from each process in the mill, including wool, yarn, and fabric, for quality assurance.
  • This position requires the ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • This position occasionally requires the ability to lift and carry files, boxes, or tools, weighing up to 50 lbs.
