Quality Control Associate I (Biochemistry)

The Opportunity:

As a Quality Control Associate I you will be responsible for Stability testing, compendial method testing, Bulk Drug Substance testing, reagent preparation, and sample management for biopharmaceutical products. Additional responsibilities include equipment management and maintenance, and laboratory duties.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Expertise: Basic knowledge of chromatography methods (Liquid, Gas Chromatography, HPLC systems) and bioassays (Potency, ELISA); experience in laboratory safety procedures, equipment troubleshooting, stability testing, and aseptic techniques for cell handling.

• Process and Quality Management: Familiarity with change control, SOP redlining, unplanned event reporting, Tech Transfer activities, and participation in inspections/audits; understanding of continuous improvement principles in processes and assays.

• Software Proficiency: Experience with Empower and GSMP software; skilled in using LIMS, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace tools.

• Teamwork and Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; active participation in meetings, engagement with peers, and contributions to team projects (including leadership experience in some projects).

• Organizational and Time Management Skills: Demonstrates excellent organizational abilities, prioritizes tasks effectively, operates independently in fast-paced environments, and manages time with minimal oversight.

Who You Are:

• You possess a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or other relevant discipline with 3-4 years of related experience

Preferred requirements:

• You have experience in audits and inspections with some interaction with auditors.

• You have a basic understanding of Tech Transfer activities.

• You have a basic understanding or experience in stability testing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• You have a basic knowledge and experience of Liquid and/or Gas Chromatography, HPLC systems and their configuration and use, Bioassays (Potency and ELISA).

• Experience working on group projects and may have led a project

• Continuous improvement mindset and seeks out ways to improve procedures, business processes, or assays

• You have experience in Change Control and redlining SOPs and in aseptic technique required for cell handling and sample aliquoting

• You have working knowledge of Empower and/or GSMP Software and computer skills - LIMS, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations

• Must be able to work Dayshift or 4-10 swing shift

• Work in office and laboratory environment

• Able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time

• Able to lift up to 30lbs

• Work with analytical instruments that may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals (corrosive, toxic, flammable, etc)

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks including frequent hand and finger manipulations, grasping pushing and pulling

• Available to work over-time, weekends, and holidays as needed

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $51,000 - $90,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
