Freight Hauler

Distribution Center Address: 225 Solar Dr., Imperial, PA

Pay: Starting at $19.06/hour (includes a $1.00 2nd shift premium)

  • Plus, any performance incentives, bonuses, etc.

Work Schedule:

  • Sunday - Thursday work week, with Friday and Saturdays off

  • 2nd Shift - 6:00 PM - Finish

Gordon Food Service takes pride in delivering seamless order processing and delivery to our customers, and our warehouse staff is the backbone of our success. As a freight hauler, you'll support our team by removing products from docks and trailers and staging them to be received and stored. You will also use a powered industrial vehicle (PIV) to move products, inspect products for damage, and ensure all products are secured and scanned properly for inventory. There's no experience required - we'll train you how to get the job done!

Does this look like you?

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must have or be willing to obtain Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification.

  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed - holidays are very important to our customers!

  • We have frozen products - your ability to work in extreme cold or hot conditions (-25F to 100F) is required while you're here.

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Successfully pass a drug test that will assess drug usage and a background check.

  • Prior experience preferred, but not required.

Position Summary:

Removes product for docks or trailers and stages for receiving or storage. Transfer product from frozen and dry receiving docks and stages in various warehouse areas

Essential Functions:

  • Designated by Division

-Communicates dock capacity and finished pallet readiness with the person (Freight Handler or driver) who is doing the sorting and segregating of the load

-Communicates with the Putaway/Replenishment Operators on aisle capacity balancing with available movement of finished product from the Receiving dock.

-Make sure pallet quality and type is up to standard.

-Ensure all products are secured on the pallets.

-Ensure proper scanning of each pallet move in the handheld.

AND/OR

-Remove product from trucks with a power ox or standup docker hilo.

-Keep product organized on the dock according to which truck or door from which it is removed.

-Communicate with the person (lumper or driver) who is doing the sorting and segregating of the load.

-Inspect product for concealed or regular damage; make sure pallet quality and type is up to standard.

-Communicate with the checker on load issues.

-Complete Load Inspection forms.

-Assist lumper/driver with product ti/hi issues

-Insure all products are secured on pallets

  • Completes housekeeping activities on a daily basis.

  • Adhere to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate clearly in a professional manner.

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize and to work independently or within a team environment.

  • Must have good customer service and time management skills.

  • Must adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.

  • Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • None Required, prior experience preferred.

  • Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification or license.

  • High School / Equivalent Preferred.
