Job Summary

The Burn Table Programmer is responsible for programming and operating plasma and/or oxyfuel cutting tables. This role involves nesting parts using specialized software, ensuring optimal material usage, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The specialist will collaborate closely with internal customers including burn table operators, shop leads, Engineering, and Project Controls to ensure accurate and timely execution of cutting programs.

Essential Functions



  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values".
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics".
  • Develop programs using advanced nesting software (e.g.,OmniWin, ProNest, SigmaNEST) for plasma and oxyfuel cutting systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop detailed parts for nesting or shop aids.
  • Interpret and analyze CAD drawings and cut lists to determine optimal nesting strategies.
  • Optimize material usage by applying nesting algorithms and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate and efficient program execution.
  • Maintain and update program libraries and templates for various material types and thicknesses.
  • Troubleshoot programming issues and refine cutting paths for improved performance.
  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards in all programmed outputs.
  • Collaborate with the Team; work closely with layout and fabrication teams to meet production goals and timelines.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent and technical certification preferred.
  • 2+ experience with ERP systems such as Epicor.
  • Background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD with 2+ years of drafting experience.
  • Proficiency in nesting software and programming tools.
  • Strong understanding of CAD software and technical drawing interpretation.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to optimize cutting layouts.
  • Experience with various metal types and thicknesses in a fabrication environment.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on precision and efficiency.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and understand drawings, fabrication specifications and bill of materials
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word and database applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to interact with individuals internally and externally at various organizational levels
