We are connected by our mission - partnering and healing for a healthy future - and dedicated to the health and well-being of the communities we serve. 0.6 FTE / Part-Time Location: MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital - Puyallup, WA Position Summary: The Inpatient Diabetes Educator, RN provides expert clinical guidance, education, and consultation for hospitalized patients with diabetes and related endocrine disorders. This role supports both direct and indirect patient care through staff education, individualized patient teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based practice. The educator serves as a hospital-wide resource and clinical leader for diabetes management and works closely with providers, nursing staff, and ancillary teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care across the continuum. Key Responsibilities: Conducts individualized diabetes education for inpatients and their families, focusing on disease understanding, medication management, insulin administration, nutrition, blood glucose monitoring, and discharge planning. Minimum Requirements: Current RN license in the State of Washington. Strong interpersonal and teaching skills, with the ability to educate patients and staff effectively. Hospital inpatient environment; direct patient care and educational settings. Position Summary Provides individualized diabetes self-management education/ training to individuals and groups according to the Scope of Practice, Standards of Practice, and Standards of Professional performance for Diabetes Educators (AADE, 2005).The Registered Dietitian is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in the out-patient diabetes education program. The RD utilizes the care process consistent with their license or certification including initiation of interventions within individual scope of practice. The RD incorporates diabetes education principles that are current and reflective of the standards set forth by the American Diabetes Association, The American Association of Diabetes Educators and The American College of Endocrinologists in respect to the management of Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $112,674.00 - $183,810.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
