Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Location(s): Austin, TX

Role Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will support (VIS) our Austin site in the development, enhancement, testing, and sustaining of electrical components, devices, systems, software, and test systems for commercial medical technologies.

This role requires deep hands-on experience in electrical design, test engineering, and troubleshooting through all phases of the product lifecycle-from concept through manufacturing support.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Development

  • Perform component selection, circuit design, simulation, and engineering analysis.
  • Develop prototypes, perform unit-level testing, lifecycle testing, and system-level integration.
  • Create and modify engineering drawings, documentation, and specifications.
  • Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in SAP for hardware, firmware, and embedded software.
Testing & Troubleshooting
  • Support manufacturing and field teams by resolving non-conformities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using electrical test equipment and custom test setups.
  • Improve product quality and reliability through continuous design enhancements.
Product Lifecycle & Collaboration
  • Contribute to product enhancements and new product introductions (NPI).
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and service teams.
  • Maintain thorough and compliant engineering documentation required for medical devices.
Process Improvement
  • Analyze existing procedures and propose improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Upgrade electrical designs in existing devices and adapt designs for localization requirements.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong electrical design capability with schematic, modeling, and tolerance analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills-written documentation, technical reports, and cross-team collaboration.
  • High attention to detail and self-driven work style.
  • Experience with electronic assembly fabrication and contract manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of design-for-manufacture, serviceability, and reliability best practices.
  • Familiarity with development in regulated environments (medical device experience a plus).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7-10+ years of electrical engineering experience (minimum 5+ years in custom electrical assembly design).
  • Proven contributions to multiple full lifecycle products or projects.
  • Test engineering and hands-on troubleshooting expertise required.
  • Medical device experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Position Level: Senior Professional
  • Recognized expert with deep functional and technical knowledge in the electrical engineering domain.
  • Integrates analysis, design, testing, and implementation with minimal guidance.
  • Provides functional advice to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Exercises solid professional judgment and improves existing processes.
  • Typically plans and executes work within quarterly to annual cycles.
