The Education Program Director for Investigator Development provides support to the Investigator Development leadership team (including the Director of Investigator Development, Principal Investigators (PIs) of the CTSI K12 and T32 programs, grant-writing program leader) by (1) implementing our education and training programs that support clinical and translational researchers, (2) administering and ensuring compliance for the grant including our signature CTSI programsthe K12, Path to K, Path to R, and T32 (predoctoral and postdoctoral) and grant-writing programsand (3) initiating and supporting development of new initiatives to meet the evolving needs of pre- and post-doctoral trainees and faculty across the clinical and translational science research community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Education amp; Training Program Development
    • Implement critical initiatives under the direction of Investigator Development leadership including developing, managing, and tracking outcomes from the educational seminar series and the grant writing training programs
    • Development of new curricula and innovative learning experiences, in partnership with the Director and PIs of the training grants, including hybrid and asynchronous offerings.
    • Launch and scale new CTSI educational initiatives to address workforce development needs.
    • Initiate and support ongoing efforts to foster cross-institutional partnerships at the university, state, regional, and national levels.
  • Grant Administration amp; Compliance
    • Serve as lead administrator for CTSI-related NIH and other training grants; oversee compliance, provide data for reporting, and ensure program fidelity.
    • Assist in the development and oversight of data collection processes for all elements of the training portfolio, (recruitment, didactics, experiential learning, research skill and professional development competency acquisition, mentorship, milestone completion (doctoral degree etc), placement post training) to support program evaluation and continuous improvement, Support development of CTSI-related grant proposals and lead major program evaluations using data-driven approaches.
  • Program Delivery amp; Events
    • Lead the strategic planning and delivery of a 24-month educational portfolio (e.g., 2 seminar series, grant writing workshops, Tools of the Trade, Business of Science, communication training).
    • Collaborate with program managers and staff to ensure effective delivery of workshops and training events.
    • Ensure that Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and mentoring best practices are integrated across all levels of trainees funded under CTSI mechanisms.
    • Develop and manage Requests for Applications (RFAs).
  • Program Evaluation amp; Outreach
    • Oversee program evaluation efforts across Investigator Development programs (e.g., educational and mentoring outcomes, alumni tracking, career progress monitoring).
    • Oversee program evaluation efforts across stipend supported training programs (e.g., trainee research productivity including presentations, publications, grant submissions, research training certificates, trainee feedback), mentoring outcomes, alumni tracking, career progress monitoring).
    • Provide leadership and oversight for the preparation of annual reports and program documentation, ensuring timely coordination across stakeholders and delivery of supporting materials. This includes assisting with narrative development and visual representation of program outcomes for Investigator Development initiatives, as well as for T32 and K programs (e.g., Path to K, K12). Lead/contribute to scholarly manuscripts and presentations on program outcomes
    • Promote CTSI educational programs through informational and outreach activities.
    • Represent CTSI nationally through consortia, special interest groups, and professional networks.
  • Supervision amp; Team Leadership
    • Recruit, mentor, and supervise staff supporting Investigator Development initiatives.
    • Implement program administration, logistics, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent Experience, Masters or doctoral degree in education, biomedical sciences, MPH, health services, nursing, or other allied health field, or related field preferred .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in secondary or higher education program development, management, and evaluation, particularly science/research training.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Experience effectively managing multiple programs/educational offerings simultaneously.
  • Experience with data analysis and data presentation.
