The Sepsis Coordinator plays a vital role in the continued development, evaluation and implementation of sepsis treatment. The Sepsis Coordinator ensures adherence to the early goal-directed therapy bundle elements (as developed by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign) in collaboration with the healthcare team. The role also assists in hospital utilization and resource management, coordinates care through the continuum, performs case review, and monitors and reports quality outcomes. The Sepsis Coordinator works in collaboration with all hospital staff to support the multidisciplinary care of the septic patient.

Employment Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing Licensing/ Certification Licensure/Certification Required: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state Licensure/Certification Preferred: Current RN licensure in Virginia, Certification in specialty area Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing with ICU or ED experience AND minimum of 3 years of clinical unit leadership/management experience Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Excel, and other clinical software systems. Ability to analyze and problem solve independently and disseminate data to relevant groups across the health system. Knowledge of quality improvement processes. Exceptional interpersonal skills that display effective and professional customer service skills and interaction. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Proficient in use of electronic health records. Completion of VCUH Quality Academy Working Conditions Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. * May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. * * Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
