About the Position

The Criminal Intelligence Supervisor is responsible for supervising the criminal analysis function in the performance of detailed research and analysis of criminal information for the Crime Analysis Section. This includes supervising the analysis of data, developing links and patterns of criminal activity, and formulating reports.

We Require

  • Four years performing research and analysis on crime-related information, one year of which must be in a public safety organization

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, a social science, or a related field

  • Specific crime analysis training from an accredited organization or university may be substituted for up to one year of experience or education, and additional experience working directly in a crime analysis unit may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis

Other requirements:

  • Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire

  • Must obtain ACJIS Terminal Operator Certification within six months of hire or promotion and maintain certification throughout the course of this assignment

  • May require on-call/overtime availability to provide a response to after-hour inquiries and notification alerts. May be required to testify in court proceedings

  • May be required to travel to perform certain work functions

NOTE: The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement.

Job Contributions

  • Supervise the research, analysis, evaluation, and correlation of criminal information and intelligence

  • Create, prepare, review, and approve various intelligence and administrative documents to disseminate information and to ensure the required information is accurate and in compliance with the established standards

  • Participate in multi-agency task force investigations, work groups, or committees to provide analytical assistance

  • Conduct meetings to exchange information pertaining to criminal activities or daily work unit and personnel issues and procedures in order to maintain effective operations.

  • Supervise the analytical assignments to case investigations and/or requests for assistance by prioritizing the collection of data, monitoring progress and work products, making recommendations, and projecting workload to ensure accountability, quality control, and timely coordination of projects and cases

  • Direct the research, design, development, testing, and/or maintenance of operational databases, analytical software, hardware, and peripheral equipment to enhance the quality of work product, improve productivity, and ensure equipment is functioning properly

  • Solve problems that arise in the collection plan of case investigations in order to ensure the success of case progression to prosecution

  • Act as liaison to various internal and external groups or individuals to provide analytical assistance, collect and/or disseminate intelligence data, and share resource sources

  • Assist with establishing policies and procedures affecting the Crime Analysis Unit

  • Develop and define metrics for tracking and reporting to MCAO Executive staff via routine reports and meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)

  • Prepare and present verbal and written briefings to MCAO and other departments on the results of analyses, case studies, personnel, and other metrics

  • Assess or determine intelligence information requirements or needs to recommend, plan, prioritize, and implement collection plans, target, or case strategies

  • Oversee section resources to include training and procurement requests, and hardware, software, and personnel needs; provides appropriate documentation to chain of command to justify resource needs

  • Perform frequent quality control checks of the section and MCAO databases to ensure accuracy and integrity

Working Conditions

  • Mostly office setting in high volume, fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations. Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities. May require travel to and from various county locations for meetings and trainings, utilizing personal or county vehicle. May be required to lift floor to waist, push, pull, or carry up to 20 pounds
