We seek a Medical Operations Lead to head the UCB Medical Operations team in Epilepsy and Rare Syndromes. If you are passionate about operational leadership and advancing meaningful patient-focused medical strategies, this is a role where you can make a measurable difference!

About the role

As the Medical Operations Lead, you will lead the Medical Operations team to ensure the successful and timely execution of medical tactics across the Epilepsy and Rare Syndromes (EaRS) portfolio. Reporting directly to the Head of EaRS Medical US, this individual will utilize medical operations best practices that drive and track the successful completion of medical tactics including designing and communicating regular KPIs and dashboards. The Medical Operations Lead will collaborate with internal stakeholders to navigate the UCB process for compliance and project completion.

What you'll do

  • Contributes to the Medical Affairs' overall strategy and culture as part of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team in the US.
  • Leads the medical team to achieve excellence by connecting medical strategy with implementation and by developing qualitative and quantitative metrics.
  • Being accountable and responsible for the execution and delivery of tactical objectives of Medical Affairs Plans for the EaRS, together with the Strategy Lead for each asset, and in alignment with the overall strategic objectives.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for the direct reports (e.g., medical communication leads, project management, etc.).
  • Develops the Center of Excellence for Medical Operations in organizing conferences and advisory board meetings, managing ANF/Contracting and budget, medical reviews, and medical excellence.
  • Ensures compliance with UCB and local regulations (regulatory, pharma codes, etc) for medical affairs deliverables and for the medical-related reviews.

Interested? For this position you'll need the following education, experience and skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MBA, PhD, MD, and/or PharmD
  • Minimum of 5 years of Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry in the respective therapeutic areas or similar experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful track record of initiating and leading cross-functional planning, collaborating, and solution building
  • Deep understanding of the needs of teams of Medical Strategy, Medical Outcome Liaison, and Medical Science Liaison
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the cross-functional matrix related to the medical review process for HCP-facing materials
  • Superb project management skills, ability to pay attention to details, and tenacity to drive project completion
  • Attention and a high level of emphasis on ethics and compliance guidelines and standards

This position's reasonably anticipated salary range is $197k-$259k annually. The actual salary offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
