Department Summary

This internship position is based in Pleasanton, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Wet lab-base, in-person research internship program.

  • Work in close collaboration with microbiology and molecular diagnostics assay development experts in the design, development, testing and optimization of qPCR-based diagnostic assays.

  • Obtain unique hands-on experience working on projects utilizing Roche's flagship molecular diagnostic platforms such as the cobas 5800/6800/8800 systems.

  • Analyse data, summarize results and present in weekly team meetings and a poster session.

  • Obtain industry experience in quality control, data handling, and networking.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree in the past year (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Master's Degree in the past year.

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors:Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of, and wet lab experience in molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extractions, RT-PCR , and qPCR.

  • Self-motivated to perform experiments under the supervisor's guidance.

  • Familiarity with safe handling of biological and hazardous materials and sterile techniques.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and people skills.

  • Complementing our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Growing Bacterial culture, DNA/RNA extraction.

  • Basicunderstanding of next generation sequencing technologies.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location ofCalifornia is $33.00-$43.00 per hour.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
