Position Summary

The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing adherence to, and implementation of, system-wide Privacy and Security compliance activities, including but not limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), California Medical Information Act (CMIA), and Joint Commission patient confidentiality rights for the MemorialCare organization. This position is self-directed and assists in the coordination, research, investigation, monitoring, auditing, education and resolution of patient and employee privacy and security compliance issues. Familiarity with healthcare privacy and security laws, regulations and standards is required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Participates in complex compliance audits related to privacy and security

  2. Investigate privacy and security related issues, concerns and complaints for MemorialCare Health System

  3. Lead the development & maintenance of an online compliance intranet-based resource center

  4. Work collaboratively with management on corporate and/or campus specific privacy & security initiatives

  5. Be at work and be on time

  6. Follow company policies, procedures and directives

  7. Interact in a positive and constructive manner

  8. Prioritize and multitask

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
