About This Role
The Animal Sciences & Industry Department houses one of the most successful applied swine nutrition programs in the world and is seeking to continue its robust research program following the retirement of two University Distinguished professors who had swine nutrition research responsibilities. We are seeking applicants for a 12-month, tenure-track position (80% Research & 20% Teaching). The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (commensurate with experience) and located in Manhattan, KS. The successful individual will contribute primarily to the department's land-grant missions associated with research and teaching. The successful individual is expected to help lead a productive research program relevant to applied swine nutrition with the members of the K-State Applied Swine Nutrition Team. The Applied Swine Nutrition Team conducts over 50 swine research trials each year utilizing the 150 sow farrow-to-finish research farm at K-State as well as the commercial research barns of many industry partners. Expertise in swine nutrition, swine management, and conducting commercial research is desired. Prior experience with submitting and securing competitive grants is preferred. The successful individual is expected to participate in graduate student training and other relevant interdisciplinary research activities. The successful individual is expected to focus teaching efforts on graduate-level classes in swine nutrition and other determined courses based on expertise and departmental need. The successful individual will: About Us The K-State Department of Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI) serves students, livestock producers and the animal and food industries through teaching, research and education. The Dept. of ASI prepares students for careers in the animal and food industries. Worksite Description This position is On-site. What You'll Need to Succeed Minimum Qualifications: * Ph.D. degree (at time of employment) with an emphasis in applied swine nutrition The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level. Preferred Qualifications: * Evidence of being a successful team member and leader * Ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team and support a cooperative, professional work environment.
