Position Description:

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa invites applications for a faculty position in Microbial Immunology at the Associate Professor level. This tenure-track position includes a 12-month appointment, full fringe benefits, competitive start-up package, office and laboratory space, and access to state-of-the-art core facilities, instrumentation, and BSL3 and animal BSL3 space. The primary appointment of the faculty member will be in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Successful applicants will be expected to have an established extramurally funded research program and to participate in teaching activities in the Department.

The Department consists of 24 primary and 7 secondary faculty members with robust research funding and two long-standing NIH T32 training grants. Education Requirement:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have postdoctoral research experience.

Applicants musthave a strong record of research accomplishments.

Applicants must have an established and funded research program.

Applicants musthavedemonstrated ability to mentor and teach Ph.D. graduate students. Teaching responsibilities may include immunology, eukaryotic pathogens, or parasitology.

Desirable Qualifications:

We seek applicants studying aspects of parasitology including, but not limited to microbial pathogenesis, vaccination, immunity, and immune regulation, including the application of experimental in vivo systems of microbial infection and disease.
