SALARY RANGE: $40,000 - 48,000

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Technician will be a member of the Security Department supporting facility security operations along with program security support for one or more government and or non-government programs. This position supports all aspects of security to include but not limited to; personnel security, physical security, and information security, with primary duties supporting Vigor's physical access control policy. This role will be responsible for processing, issuing, employee, non-employee and visitor access control badges, supporting daily security operations, and the implementation of site-specific policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must live the Vigor Values every day
  • Responsible for assisting in daily facility security and program security operations and activities
  • Assists the Security Management with activities supporting NAVSEA Standard Item 009-72 Physical Security at a Private Contractor Facility, and other DoD or customer contract security requirements
  • Supports Security Management with implementation of access control procedures and use of electronic access control systems
  • Responsible for Issuing access control badges for employees, non-employees, and visitors per Vigor's access control policies and procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate personnel records with Vigor's electronic access control system, and supporting completion of access control documentation to include scan, and file security paperwork as required
  • Assists the Security Management with various Security audits and spot checks
  • This position will support other Security activities as necessary


JOB SCOPE:
The Security Technician operates under supervision of the Security Manager, but must use sound judgment when performing security duties and other tasks as necessary for compliance with various federal, state, and customer regulations, directives, and contractual obligations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
The individual must communicate both verbally and written with Vigor personnel at all levels within the business unit. The position represents the Company through formal and informal interactions with employees and other visitors to the facility.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be a well-organized, detail oriented self-starter
  • Strong written and oral communication, as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer knowledge in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Assess), and Lenel OnGuard software
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Ability to exercise sounds judgment, work well independently, prioritize duties and follow through tasks to completion
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Personal Identifiable Information (PII), Proprietary, and other sensitive information, materials and equipment
  • Must be able to handle the pressure of constant interruptions

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be a U.S. Citizen

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Basic experience supporting physical security activities preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in an industrial environment. The individual may be required to be in production areas within the complex. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas and tanks; to work at heights. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist and may be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Good finger, hand and wrist dexterity required for extensive computer operations. The person must have good hand-eye coordination and may spend extended time sitting in front of a computer terminal. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While in production areas, will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dusts, and odors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
