DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role involves overseeing a team of licensed and trained automotive and diesel mechanics responsible for a wide range of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair tasks on a diverse fleet that includes construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. The machinery operated by the team is powered by either gasoline or diesel engines, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of various systems. The supervisor provides hands-on guidance for the maintenance and repair of critical components such as hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems, as well as both manual and automatic transmissions. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for overseeing the mechanics conducting state vehicle inspections, ensuring that all work orders are completed accurately and efficiently. This includes monitoring the time allocated to repairs and compiling reports on any equipment accidents or damages, thereby maintaining high standards of safety and operational efficiency within the fleet.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work hours are subject to change during the summer & winter seasons. Shift work, overtime, & travel are required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake restriction (L) removed, supplemented by Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
  • This position requires possession of an active Class 4 or Class 7 Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
