IFF implements a portfolio of programs and evaluations that enhance the capacity of child welfare and human service systems-primarily through training, technical assistance, and applied research services-which reaches more than 30,000 child- and family-serving professionals annually.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr. Program Administrator Supervisor for The Institute for Families ( IFF) at the Rutgers University School of Social Work.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Oversees a team of per diem trainers educating child welfare professionals who support families across the state.
  • Provides ongoing recruitment, supervision, and coaching of trainers assigned to in-person and web-based courses for professionals working in New Jersey's child and family serving systems.
  • Provides training-related services according to program needs.
  • Conduct observations and leads networking and professional development opportunities.
  • Provides individual and group coaching sessions to enhance trainers' skills.
  • Facilitates train-the-trainer events.
  • Presents walkthroughs to introduce new learning materials.
  • Introduces tools and activities to maximize learner engagement and their acquisition of knowledge and skills.
  • Supervises full-time team members.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Training, Human Resources, Public/Business Administration, Child Development, or Communications and at least five (5) years of facilitative training experience with adult learners.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to build relationships with a range of human service professionals, a commitment to cultural humility, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work with a great deal of independence and diplomacy, maintain sensitive matters with confidentiality, and handle a wide variety of tasks while maintaining their professionalism under pressure.
  • Expertise in competencies supporting professional presentation skills.
  • Experience with a variety of engaging and interactive instructional strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong group processing skills, and knowledge of classroom management and transfer of learning strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel across the state to complete trainer assessments and provide professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Training, Human Resources, Public/Business Administration, Child Development, or Communications.
  • At least seven years' experience in a child welfare field.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale training or education projects, supporting the needs of educators and trainers providing instruction to adult learners, exhibiting strong coaching abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Equipment Utilized

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel).
  • Ability to coordinate and moderate online meetings and events using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to utilize a Learning Management System (LMS).

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • General office environment with light lifting.
