Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a School Health Dental Assistant Trainee - Park Slope, Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate The trainee will work under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director or his/her designee. The trainee will receive guidance in performing all functions associated with dental assisting. The trainee will be provided with a mentor (dentist) who will provide didactic training to support clinical learning. The trainee will be required to provide supportive services to the dentist and/ or dental hygienist who is performing services and/or procedures in all areas of dentistry (General and Specialty practice). At the end of the 12 month program, the trainee will be competent as a dental assistant and will be eligible to take the DANB examination to become a certified dental assistant.

Job Responsibilities:

Learning and perform chairside assisting

Participate fully in didactic training and complete allassignments

Prepares instruments, materials and medicaments to be used by theprovider as needed/requested

Takes, exposes, develops and mounts radiographs in accordance withguidelines

Sets-up and breakdowns dental operatory following all infectioncontrol guidelines

Maintains dental operatory in an organized and clean fashion

Assures that appropriate instruments and supplies are availablefor patient care

Prepares the patient for treatment by seating the patient,obtaining records, adn apply protective garb and assures patient's comfortwhile waiting for dentist

Cleans instruments and prepares them forsterilization/transportation as per policy

Sterilizes and/or disinfects equipment, instruments and hand piecesfollowing guidelines of the Dental Department Infection Control Manual andmanufacturer instruction for use

Documents patient records as dictated by dentist

Assists the dentist in filling out charts accurately andprocessing the patient's forms and records either manually or utilizing theElectronic Dental Record system

Pours and trims patient study model impressions taken by thedentist and completes laboratory forms accurately

Assumes the standard of care related to infection control; ensureNYU IPC, OSHA guidelines, Joint Commission guidelines & safety are upheldat the station they are assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Highschool Diploma
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire and is required to be maintained.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $47,110.31 - $47,110.31 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
