A Brief Overview The Center for Data-Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b - d3b.center) seeks a talented data analyst to join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, radiologists, engineers, and analysts in the Translational Imaging Research Unit (TIRU) committed to accelerating treatments and cures for children with cancer. The data analyst will support several multi-institutional healthcare, research, and clinical trial initiatives through operational and database management efforts, under the supervision of a lead data scientist. Main responsibilities include collecting, processing, entering, managing, and reporting on medical imaging data in a research database, and coordinating with data contributing groups, including external collaborators. The data analyst will be responsible for leveraging existing software and system technologies to facilitate the complete data lifecycle and ensure project delivery, will interact daily with TIRU team members, and will communicate to various stakeholders. The successful candidate will have experience in code development (Python) and management (Github), will communicate effectively, and enable the research and technical teams to transform data into actionable insights. Deep knowledge of, or direct experience with medical imaging data (DICOM files), database management, and handling of "big data" in biomedical contexts is strongly preferred. What you will do
- Monitor and maintain a research database. Includes performing imaging data preparation, processing, entering, and quality control required for database generation and maintenance.
- Coordinating and performing imaging data transfers with external healthcare sites using existing software platforms and tools.
- Keeping records and documentation of research databases.
- Participate in research operations by performing database queries and preparing reports on a project-by-project basis. Including creating dashboards and other data visualizations to enable general data curation and selection (such as in Tableau or R-Shiny).
- With guidance, contribute to design and development of production systems that incorporate data queries, data flow, and algorithms, ultimately supporting large-scale implementation.
- Keep up-to-date with all possible database capabilities as well as related software and technology.
- Preferred experience with:
- Database design and management, relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL preferred
- Programming experience (Python strongly preferred) and use of APIs and RESTful web services
- Working knowledge of GitHub
- Cloud platforms (such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform)
- Tableau, R-Shiny, or similar data visualization tools
- Imaging (DICOM) or other biomedical/life sciences data
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree - Required
- Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or information technology related field - Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of clinical/research databases and clinical/research experience - Required
- At least three (3) years of clinical/research databases and clinical/research experience - Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Experience writing code with best practices in either applied educational or professional projects (Python strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. Postgres, MySQL) strongly preferred.
- Familiarity RESTful web services application programming interfaces preferred.
- Experience with DICOM data management and servers preferred.
- Experience creating informative data visualizations.
- Experience and demonstrated ability acquiring new technical/analytic skills and domain knowledge to support successful contribution to research and development projects is required.

$56,890.00 - $71,110.00 Annually
