The OR/Anesthesia Technician supports surgical and anesthesia teams by preparing, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment and supplies used during operative procedures. Responsibilities include setting up anesthesia machines, monitoring devices, and surgical instruments; ensuring proper sterilization and functionality; assisting with patient positioning and room preparation; and maintaining inventory of anesthesia-related supplies. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Schedule: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
M-F

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Prepares and maintains anesthesia equipment and supplies ensuring they are clean and functional.
  • Stocks supplies in AWS (anesthesia workstation) throughout the day.
  • Assists with setting up IV's, arterial lines, and equipment for cases as needed.
  • Collaborates and assists with surgical teams to ensure patient safety.
  • Assists with turnovers, cleaning the operating room after cases, and performing housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Maintains a sterile environment when necessary.
  • Takes direction from physicians, surgical staff.
  • Assists Charge Nurse with additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintains "The Joint Commission" standards on an ongoing basis and assists in unit responsibilities for readiness for Joint Commission visits.
  • Participates in department performance improvement activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and move in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer programs to manage work.
  • Ability to follow AORN guidelines for perioperative practice.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with public, other consumers and other employees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR (BLS) certification, or obtained within 6 months of hire, required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in an operating room/hospital preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Sedentary to medium work, occasionally having to exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, such as in typical office or administrative work. Is frequently subject to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, and gases.
