The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) provides for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and maintains and enhances the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of City residents. Manage the Commissioner's calendar, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and events, ensuring that all engagements are well-organized and conflicts are minimized. Organize and prepare materials for meetings, including agendas, briefings, and follow-up actions. At the direction of the Chief of Staff, act as a point of contact between the Commissioner's office and internal departments, external partners, and stakeholders, maintaining positive working relationships. Coordinate with other NYC DOT staff and senior officials to facilitate smooth communication and collaboration across the agency. Lead daily scheduling calls, ensuring that the Commissioner's time is efficiently managed and that all necessary meetings and events are appropriately coordinated. Prepare Deputy Mayor of Operation briefing decks, compiling necessary information and materials to support the Commissioner's decision-making process. Assist in the planning and execution of special projects and initiatives led by the Commissioner. Perform additional task as assigned by the Commissioner or other senior leadership to support the efficient operation of the office and advance the broader goals of NYC DOT.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
1. High School graduation or equivalent and three years of stenographic experience including one year as a secretary; or

2. Graduation from an accredited community college with an associates degree with a major in executive secretarial work and one year of experience as a secretary; or

3. Graduation from an accredited college with a baccalaureate degree and one year of experience as a secretary; or

4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Skills

Project Management: Experience managing complex initiatives, with proficiency in project management tools. High-Level Communication: Skilled in drafting and editing high-stakes communications for diverse audiences. Strategic Thinking: Proactive in anticipating needs and addressing potential issues. Technological Proficiency. Political Acumen: Understanding of NYC's political landscape and experience managing stakeholder relationships.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
