Job Summary

We are seeking a well-rounded Security Service Technician to support commercial security systems across educational and corporate environments. This direct hire role offers consistent full-time hours, opportunities for overtime as projects require, and continued industry training with a clear career path. The Security Service Technician is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining access control, video surveillance, and related security systems while delivering professional customer service and adhering to safety standards.

Job Responsibilities




  • Travel to local client sites to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial security systems, including access control, CCTV, and burglar alarm systems.



  • Service security systems in K-12 school and corporate office environments.



  • Diagnose and resolve issues with access control systems, including panels, readers, strikes, and maglocks.



  • Service and troubleshoot IP and analog cameras, as well as Network Video Recorders (NVRs).



  • Support CCTV client software installations and configurations on PC and mobile devices, including camera management, recording schedules, and footage retrieval.



  • Maintain access control system interfaces by managing credentials, configuring access levels, and setting door schedules.



  • Utilize IP addressing knowledge and basic networking skills to troubleshoot and configure devices, including switches, routers, and port forwarding.



  • Install, terminate, and service low-voltage security cabling, including 22/4, 20/4, CAT5e, and CAT6.



  • Organize, dress, and label cabling from IT closets to device locations to ensure clean and efficient cable management.



  • Build, organize, and maintain security equipment racks.



  • Install and manage cable pathways, including J-hooks and D-rings.



  • Use software tools for documentation, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and security system platforms.



  • Read and interpret blueprints and layouts to complete service tasks accurately.



  • Communicate professionally with clients, colleagues, and management while maintaining a high level of customer service.



  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and maintaining a clean, hazard-free worksite.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial security system installation and service.



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with access control system installation and troubleshooting.



  • At least 1 year of experience with IP addressing and network troubleshooting.



  • Well-rounded experience with commercial security and access control hardware.



  • Experience supporting platforms such as Genetec, Avigilon, Verkada, and Lenel preferred.



  • Industry-specific certifications preferred.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.



  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills.




Education




  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.




Work Experience




  • Prior hands-on experience servicing commercial access control, CCTV, and related security systems in active environments.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Typical work schedule is a 7:00 a.m. start time with approximately 40 hours per week; overtime may be required based on project needs.



  • Work is local and primarily within the Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside areas.



  • Physical requirements include the ability to work on ladders or scissor lifts, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds (and move up to 75 pounds), and remain on your feet for extended periods.



  • Required tools include basic hand tools such as a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose and channel lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, steel or composite toe work boots, gloves, and a tool pouch.
