Job Summary




Under minimal direction, supports manufacturing in its entirety and various linked departments in evaluating, developing, planning, coordinating, directing and improving fusion and resistance weld processes. Supports Manufacturing Engineering during tool selection, including during quoting process. Support internal and external auditing for special processes. Supports weld candidate selections, certification and improvement.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities





  • Liaison with operations concerning weld related issues
  • Write & implement weld process planning and welding procedures
  • Specify and order welding equipment and supplies
  • Organize and track welder certifications
  • Issue and execute welder certification tests
  • Maintain weld schedule and weld procedure files
  • Program weld equipment controllers
  • Support process development for fusion welding automation
  • Participates in quotation proposals by supporting manufacturing concepts in conjunction with interested company members to establish efficient and cost-effective fabrication tooling that will make the products, in accordance with prescribed engineering, quality and customer requirements.
  • Participates in product and process development and design reviews, approves all weld joint design drawings and provides for smooth transfer into production. Support, coordinates and advises on establishing and/or application of weld methods, material and equipment.
  • Conducts and participates in Lean Manufacturing activities, including 6S and Kaizen events.

Education and Experience





  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or university, or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of (0-2) years' experience in GTAW and/ or (0-2) years' experience in special process administration

  • Ability to extract welding requirements from specifications and engineering drawings
  • Interpret weld symbols
  • Working knowledge of GTAW, EBW PAW and resistance welding processes.
  • Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Plan daily activities to ensure multiple projects or requirements are met.
  • Must have good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Application of database software and programming of automation weld equipment
