Iowa Lions Eye Bank is seeking highly motivated, independent recovery technicians to work the 0800 - 1600 shift. The role of the recovery technician is to perform the recovery of human ocular tissue for the purposes of both transplantation and for research/educational purposes. Technicians work independently, traveling to hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiners offices throughout the Iowa City/Coralville area to complete the recovery procedure. A small team of recovery personnel rotate on-call shifts to provide 24 hour daily coverage throughout the year. Days are divided into 3 eight hour shifts (0000-0800, 0800-1600, and 1600-0000) with current need to fill the 0800 - 1600 shift. Required qualifications: a valid driver's license/insurance/reliable transportation, a high school diploma or equivalent, good manual dexterity, and the ability to lift 50+ pounds without assistance. Desired qualifications: experience working in an on-call capacity, familiar with aseptic technique, flexible availability, education or experience in the fields of science and/or health care. Hourly pay rate: $5.00/hr to be on-call, $16.00/hr during training and will increase to $20/hr after successfully completing training for actual worked hours. Schedule type: ongoing, part time, flexible hours, nights/weekends/holidays. A background check is required. |
