STS Technical Services is hiring an Aircraft Component Mechanic to join our team in Nashville, Tennessee. This role supports advanced component level maintenance across electrical, hydraulic, avionics, and electromechanical systems and is built for technicians who thrive in high precision environments where quality, safety, and accountability matter.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring aircraft components are repaired, tested, and returned to service in full compliance with FAA regulations, OEM specifications, and customer requirements.


Position Summary

The Aircraft Component Mechanic performs complex maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of aircraft components and accessories. Work may include navigation, radar, instrumentation, communication, hydraulic, landing gear, and electromechanical systems. The role requires disciplined execution, strong technical judgment, and a commitment to efficiency without compromising quality or safety.


Job Responsibilities

  • Perform complete operational and functional checks of incoming avionics, electrical, and hydraulic components
  • Determine work scope, labor requirements, parts needs, and compliance with airworthiness directives, regulatory requirements, and customer specific requests
  • Interpret and follow approved maintenance procedures using OEM manuals, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and other approved data
  • Operate and maintain specialized test equipment including digital avionics analysis software, oscilloscopes, volt meters, signal generators, and hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, heat exchanger, and generator test stands
  • Inspect completed work and determine serviceability based on OEM procedures, tolerances, and industry standards
  • Complete and maintain all required maintenance documentation, including signoffs, stamps, system entries, and shift turnovers
  • Apply quality control principles to identify improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions
  • Assist supervisors and management with the development of technical procedures and internal best practices
  • Prioritize and manage individual workload to maximize production efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with FAA, OSHA, and TOSHA regulations

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current A&P Certificate or FAA Repairman Certificate required
  • Graduate of a formal two year electronics or hydraulic technical program from an accredited institute or completion of significant factory or military technical training

Experience


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in avionics, electronics, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems maintenance



Dependent on departmental needs, experience may include:



  • 6 or more years of recent experience modifying, repairing, or overhauling commercial aircraft instrumentation systems, printed circuit boards, and accessories at the component level
  • 6 or more years of recent experience repairing or overhauling commercial aircraft hydraulic or hydro mechanical aero structure components

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of complex machinery, tools, and specialized test equipment
  • Ability to determine tooling requirements and perform repairs and routine maintenance on equipment and fixtures
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills including component level soldering and repair of multi layered circuit boards
  • Strong working knowledge of video, navigation, instrumentation, avionics, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of open and closed loop hydraulic systems and electromechanical theory of operation
  • Ability to teach, mentor, and coach other technicians through OJT and cross training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document work clearly for technical and non technical audiences
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, engineering drawings, and FAA approved technical data
  • Self motivated and able to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Advanced understanding of FAA regulations, industry best practices, OSHA and TOSHA safety standards
  • Willingness to take on leadership responsibilities and support continuous improvement initiatives

Working Conditions & Special Requirements

  • Ability to work safely in compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations
  • Ability to wear a respirator in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 with no restrictions preventing proper use or seal
