Job Description

Summary: Spot weld and seam weld parts or products following standard procedures. Set up machine, select proper electrodes and wheels, holders, regulate time, current and pressure. Properly space number of spot welds or roll welding to varying conditions for proper fusion and avoid distortion and burning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Set up assigned spot by determining and selecting, mounting and aligning tips or wheels, adjusting machine to exert proper pressure, adjusting voltage, amperage and tuning of current to obtain desired spot or specified material, where procedure has been standardized.
  • Ability to determine location of welds ensuring conformity.
  • Ability to recognize improper functions and make adjustments.
  • Makes test sample piece for production before initial part is run.
  • Intermittently refinishes electrode tips to obtain a smooth uniform spot.
  • Ability to dress wheel for seam weld operations.
  • Performs rework, repair and other associated operations relating to the work described.
  • Ability to troubleshoot.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Degree or General Education Degree; or 5 + months of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders and shop drawings preferred, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence required.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and follow both written and verbal instructions required.
  • Mathematical Abilities: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to recognize improper functions of machines and unacceptable welds. Must be able to recognize when materials are not properly etched or cleaned. Must be able to recognize when parts are not fitted properly.

Tools used:

  • Machinist hand tools, scales, precision measuring instrument such as dial indicators, surface and depth gauges, micrometers, calipers, protractors, go-no-go gauges, hands tools, scales, measuring instruments, hand snips, jigs and fixtures, mandrels, dollies, and check fixtures.

Materials used:

  • Ferrous and non-ferrous bar or tube stock, castings, forgings, extrusions, tubular stock, and sheet metal and machined and/or formed parts.
Additional Information

Annual Target Salary = $47,840.00

Monday - Friday 2nd Shift 3:30pm - 2:00am
