The Respiratory Therapist provides patient- and family-centered respiratory care under the supervision of senior therapists and medical staff. This role delivers safe, evidence-based care to patients with a variety of respiratory conditions, ensuring that treatment aligns with the patient's developmental stage and individual needs. The RT collaborates with the interprofessional team to promote quality outcomes, patient safety, and effective communication.

Duties & Responsibilities
Performs routine and emergency respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and established department standards.
Monitors and evaluates patients' responses to respiratory treatments, identifying and reporting changes in condition to the care team.
Assists with ambulatory respiratory diagnostics including, but not limited to, spirometry, lung volume testing, diffusion capacity, exercise or bronchoprovocation studies, impulse oscillometry, and bronchoscopy support after competency validation.
Provides education and instruction to patients and families on respiratory care techniques, treatments, and equipment use.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care and accurate documentation.
Maintains equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and adherence to infection-control standards.
Participates in safety and quality initiatives, following established protocols to minimize risk and promote best practices.
Assists in training and orientation of students and new staff under supervision.
Demonstrates ongoing learning by maintaining current certifications and participating in department education activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy/Care is required at the time of hire
Certification(s):
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute accepted) with at least 6 months remaining before expiration
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire if working in Medical/Surgical and/or Emergency Department
Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Respiratory Therapist license
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
