Who You Are

The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role within the Operations organization, supporting operational leaders across claims processing, plan management, enrollment, and customer service. This role goes beyond traditional report development and focuses on delivering insight-driven analytics that improve operational performance, efficiency, and decision-making.

You are a strong analytics partner who can work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment, translate complex operational questions into analytical solutions, and help modernize how Operations leverages data.

You are comfortable balancing ad-hoc analytical requests with the development of scalable, automated reporting solutions, and you thrive in environments where processes and best practices are still being defined.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with Operations leaders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable analytical insights, standardized reporting, and ad-hoc analyses
  • Support operational functions including claims processing, enrollment, plan management, and customer service through data-driven analysis
  • Analyze operational performance trends to identify process inefficiencies, root causes, and improvement opportunities, not just produce data extracts
  • Play a key role in the modernization of the Operations analytics function, supporting the transition to new Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and BI platforms
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated dashboards and reports while also handling manual and exploratory analytical requests as needed
  • Work with Analytics Engineers and Data Engineering teams to:

    • Understand and document EDW data structures, data models, and source system relationships
    • Serve as a key liaison between Operations stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into clear, well-defined analytical and technical specifications
    • Partner with Analytics Engineering to design, develop, and support the EDW semantic layer, ensuring it aligns with operational use cases and reporting needs
    • Collaborate with technical teams to prioritize and refine data enhancements, balancing business value, data quality, and scalability
    • Improve data accessibility, consistency, and analytical usability across BI tools and reporting platforms
    • Actively support data literacy within Operations, helping business users better understand available data, metrics, and analytical capabilities and enabling more effective self-service analytics

  • Provide clear, concise storytelling around data to help Operations leaders make informed decisions
  • Manage multiple concurrent requests, prioritize work effectively, and meet competing timelines
  • Help define and evolve best practices, documentation, and workflows for the Operations analytics function

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with large, complex datasets in an Enterprise Data Warehouse environment
  • Hands-on experience with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with Databricks or modern cloud-based analytics platforms is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business questions into analytical solutions
  • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on insights, trends, and operational improvement, not just report creation
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analyses to operational leaders

Healthcare & Domain Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of healthcare data, particularly claims and enrollment data
  • Knowledge of the claims processing lifecycle, including:

    • Claim generation and submission
    • Adjudication and payment
    • Adjustments, reprocessing, and downstream impacts

  • Experience supporting operational teams within a payer, managed care, or health plan environment

Experience & Education:

  • 7-10+ years of total professional experience, with at least 5+ years in data analytics or business intelligence roles, preferably within healthcare operations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting operational teams with analytics, reporting, and performance measurement
  • Bachelor's degree required (e.g., Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Health Informatics, or a related field)
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or similar) is a plus but not required

Salary Range: Minimum 33.90/hour - Maximum 55.98/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
