Description

The Department of Sociology at Dartmouth College seeks to appoint one non-tenure-track Lecturer for the academic year 2026-2027. Applicants should be prepared to teach Introductory Sociology (SOCY 1), Social Problems (SOCY 2), Research Methods (SOCY 11), and/or Quantitative Analysis of Social Data (SOCY 10). The person in this position may also teach a course in their area of expertise from the Department's course catalog, to be negotiated with the Department Chair.



This position is full-time, non-remote, in-residence at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, from September 1, 2026-June 15, 2027. Lecturers teach six courses during the academic year, two per quarter over three ten-week quarters. This position comes with a competitive salary and benefits. The appointment will be for a one-year term.

Qualifications

PhD in Sociology or a closely related field by the start date. Scholars who are currently ABD are welcome to apply, provided that they will have their PhD in hand by the start date. Dartmouth can provide J-1 visa sponsorship for eligible candidates.
