Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation Engineer III, supporting TOS II, at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA (NFAC). The Instrumentation Engineer III will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will perform the role of Instrumentation Engineer III supporting wind tunnel testing at the National Full-Scale Aerodynamic Complex (NFAC). This is an engineering role with responsibility for planning wind tunnel data instrumentation and data acquisition system requirements, overseeing instrumentation set up and checkout, and verifying proper implementation on a cross-functional, multi-disciplined team working closely with test customers, test directors, software engineers, and data system technicians.

Job Duties:

    Take responsibility to plan, design, set up and check out instrumentation systems for NFAC wind tunnel tests
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard instrumentation engineering methods, techniques, and criteria to support wide variety of test customer measurement requirements
  • Interface with test customers to establish instrumentation/data-acquisition configuration design and implementation requirements which will meet test objectives
  • Provide installation and checkout support to test team during testing
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain customer test article and facility instrumentation systems
  • Perform maintenance, calibrations, upgrades, and documentation of facility instrumentation systems
  • Help create scope, requirements, schedules, and CAD drawing packages for test instrumentation development
  • Work closely with test customers and test team to establish instrumentation accuracy, uncertainty and calibration requirements to meet test measurement objectives for a successful entry in the wind tunnel
  • Coordinate work activities of NFAC instrumentation technicians and outside contractors, as necessary
  • Provide innovation and insight into enhancement and modernization opportunities to improve data quality and efficiency
  • Participate in a highly dynamic working environment, planning for future test entries, executing tests, and supporting ongoing facility projects.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Salary Range

$123,800 - $181,000 / year


Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, or aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant and progressive experience with instrumentation/data acquisition systems or 12+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a B.S. degree
  • US citizenship required
