What to Expect
The Metrology Technician will work as a member of the Metrology group in the Quality organization
.
They will program and operate the portable CMM (Faro Arm and Leica laser Tracker) on a regular basis.
The technician role will be to help root cause analysis and run validation/verification on parts, fixtures, etc
.
relating to the needs of the Gigafactory
New York

What You'll Do
- Program and inspect with specialty using portable CMM (Faro arm and Leica laser tracker)
- Create measurement programsusingPolyworkssoftware for standard routine SPC and investigations activities
- Deliver precise results quickly and efficiently by collaborating directly with customers to understand their challenges and guide measurement solutions using technicians' expertise in GD&T and advanced measurement strategies
- Coordinate calibration activities, ensuring that all test and measurement equipment is functioning and calibrated prior to use, and proactively resolving issues when identified
- Work with the Quality Engineering Team in regard to continuous improvement activities, solving problems and improving overall product quality - may include various physical tasks from time to time with regard to moving parts and equipment
- Support the development and lead the implementation of Metrology standards and best practices in all aspects of Dimensional inspection inside and outside the Metrology Lab
What You'll Bring
- Strong working experience and understanding ofPolyWorksMetrology software andDataloopPC-DMIS or GOM
- 2+ years' experience working in manufacturing or quality environment
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to work with colleagues and cross-functional teams in a professional and organized manner
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings (including GD&T), preferred
- Ability to give presentations and prepare technical reports based on measurement/scan data
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines

Expected Compensation
- Engineering Technician I - $27.45 - $30.60/hour
- Engineering Technician II - $31.63 - $34.97/hour
+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
