We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director of Network Security - Strategy & Transformation to join our Network Security team. This role is located in New York City. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead the strategic vision, transformation, and execution of all network security products and platforms across the enterprise, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), secure web gateways, network access control (NAC), zero trust architectures, cloud security platforms, and advanced threat intelligence solutions.
- Develop and articulate a multi-year network security strategy and annual objectives aligned with corporate and regulatory goals, driving modernization initiatives such as next-generation firewalls, SD-WAN, SASE, and micro-segmentation solutions.
- Strategic Planning & Objectives Setting: Develop and articulate a multi-year network security strategy and annual objectives aligned with corporate (and regulatory as appropriate) goals. Drive transformation initiatives to modernize network security platforms and processes, including the adoption and integration of next-generation firewalls, SD-WAN, SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), and micro segmentation solutions.
- Executive Reporting & Communication: Manage end-to-end executive reporting for network security performance, transformation milestones, and strategic updates to executive leaders and external stakeholders. Deliver ad-hoc analyses and insights on the deployment and effectiveness of technologies across network security & analytics platforms.
- Workforce & Operating Model Strategy: Monitor operating-model performance through defined KPIs, driving continuous improvement in team structure, resource allocation, and delivery cadence for network security initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration across global, matrixed teams, with a focus on upskilling in cloud/network security, automation, and threat detection technologies.
- Analytics and Insight Delivery: Oversee regular reporting on network security metrics, threat intelligence, and platform health to inform leadership decisions. Serve as product owner for integrated operational and strategy-execution dashboards, ensuring data integrity and transparency across technologies such as vulnerability management platforms, network monitoring tools, and cloud security posture management (CSPM) solutions.
- External Benchmarking & Competitor Analysis: Conduct ongoing benchmarking against peer institutions and technology leaders in network security, identifying performance improvement opportunities and best practices in areas such as zero trust, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and network segmentation.
- Financial Oversight, P&L and Budget Management: Comfortable with owning P&L responsibility for the wider portfolio, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are allocated efficiently. Develop, manage, and optimize annual and multi-year budgets for network security initiatives, including technology investments, staffing, vendor contracts, and transformation programs. Partner with Finance and executive leadership to forecast, track, and report on spend, ROI, and cost-saving opportunities across all network security operations. Evaluate and negotiate vendor agreements, licensing, and service contracts to maximize value and minimize risk. Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and regulatory requirements in all budgetary and procurement activities.
- Transformation Leadership: Lead delivery of the multi-year strategy and roadmap for network security tooling, processes, training, and engagement. Deploy next-generation security tools and platforms, including cloud-native security solutions, automated threat response, and secure remote access technologies, in partnership with engineering and infrastructure experts. Design and deliver training programs that support the network security transformation roadmap, emphasizing hands-on experience with technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and cloud security platforms.
- Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement: Drive adoption and foster collaboration through coaching, communities of practice, training days, office hours, and digital learning platforms focused on network security technologies and best practices. Lead change-management activities, including communication plans, readiness assessments, and risk mitigation for network security transformation. Performance Monitoring & Reporting Monitor key performance indicators across tooling effectiveness, process efficiency, adoption rates, and delivery outcomes for network security platforms, including metrics from SIEM, SOAR, and vulnerability management systems. Implement dashboards and reporting cadences for stakeholders and executive committees to secure sponsorship and drive cross-enterprise alignment.
- Manage executive reporting and communication on network security performance, transformation milestones, and strategic updates to leadership and external stakeholders.
- Oversee workforce and operating model strategy, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration across global teams, with a focus on upskilling in cloud/network security, automation, and threat detection technologies.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
- 10+ years in engineering, operations, product management, or analytics roles, including strategic leadership and hands-on delivery.
- Hands-on mastery of security platforms and technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, SOAR, NAC, SASE, cloud security, and network monitoring tools.
- Proven track record implementing security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, CIS), DevSecOps toolchains, and organizational change initiatives.
- Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in strategic planning, executive reporting, and transformation leadership.

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $350,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
