SUMMARY



Leads the design, development, and optimization of the enterprise data warehouse and ELT processes. Responsible for defining and executing data mapping, building robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines, and designing scalable data models. Analyzes source data for quality, implements systemic improvements, and performs code reviews to ensure best practices. Defines advanced reporting needs, optimizes queries, writes light-weight applications, and collaborates with the team on data governance and asset management. Serves as a strategic resource to the team by providing recommendations for data strategies, leading knowledge sharing within the Data Strategy COE, and monitoring industry trends and cost implications to drive high-performing, cost-effective data solutions across the organization.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs and executes requirements for data mapping and ELT processes.

Provides and designs solution elements for all data strategies and out of scope processes.

Designs and builds data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes for the enterprise data warehouse.

Analyzes data in source systems to assess data quality and design process improvement solutions for addressing within the source systems or as part of the ELT process.

Designs and participates in the development of the data model(s) for the data warehouse.

Defines and scopes advanced reporting needs.

Builds views and optimizes queries for visualization tools.

Writes code for light-weight applications.

Investigates and identifies systemic data issues ensuring data accuracy and reliability.

Assists in development and execution of data governance roadmap efforts within data engineering processes.

Provides comprehensive end-user support and training on developed data products, fostering widespread adoption and data literacy.

Assists the team in management of data assets.

Performs design and code reviews to ensure best practices and standards are being followed by all team members.

Monitors and learns about the latest data industry trends, software versions, and back-end tools to enhance capabilities.

Tracks the cost implications of front-end tooling and provides recommendations regarding cost effective solutions to business and reporting needs.

Identifies and considers the implications and decisions for performance improvement by being aware of overall tech stack and enterprise data strategy.

Supports conversations and collaboration with the Data Strategy Center of Excellence for team knowledge sharing.

Supports training on processes and tooling for the Data Strategy Center of Excellence.

Guides the team in defining project timelines, expectations, and outputs.

Monitors the project backlog and prioritizes the business needs communicated from stakeholders.



QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in IT Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Five (5) or more years of requirements gathering, data analysis, report development, or related experience

One (1) or more years of Insurance industry experience

SKILLS

Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, and relational databases

Advanced knowledge in system integrations and database structures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to rapidly changing priorities

Proven ability to work in a team and to foster teamwork

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications
