OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Crew Chief leads a team of 4-6 crew members to ensure daily camp operations run smoothly and facilities remain clean and functional. This role also supports camp-wide events and provides spiritual leadership through devotionals for the maintenance team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervise and direct the Maintenance Crew; lead daily devotions for the team
  • Ensure all camp areas are clean and prepared for use including bathrooms cabins porches and common spaces
  • Manage daily trash runs recycling composting and litter patrol
  • Restock cleaning supplies and maintain laundry room cleanliness
  • Build campfires prepare sleep-out locations and assist with AV equipment setup
  • Maintain and clean camp vehicles and hand equipment such as mowers blowers and weed whackers
  • Keep the Maintenance Building organized and tools properly stored
  • Secure unused buildings and monitor facility access throughout the session
  • Support general maintenance projects as directed by the Facilities Manager
  • Participate in evening programs camp activities and spiritual formation efforts
  • Assist with opening and closing day procedures and end-of-session cleanup
  • Evaluate summer operations and provide recommendations for future improvements
  • Model Christ-like behavior in conduct and service
  • Report suspected child abuse immediately to the Assistant Camp Director
  • Other related duties as required


All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum 21 years of age (required)
  • Valid Driver's license (required)
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (required)
  • Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)
  • Maintenance experience


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to organize, lead, and deliver devotionals in front of a group of people
  • Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members effectively.


EQUIPMENT USED:



  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
