Description
Position Overview: The HR Generalist is a key member of Gopher Resource's Eagan plant, supporting all people aspects of our business in partnership with the plant's leadership team. The position will focus on recruiting, policy and procedure administration, and various HR support. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day people operations as a key member of site HR Team
- Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open plant hourly positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Respond to employee inquiries, questions and concerns
- Serve as the onboarding point of contact for new hires
- Assist with the creation, documentation, and implementation of human resources policies, programs, and processes
- Participates in employee recognition initiatives and events
- Support the HR team in employee relations investigations and conflict resolution
- Ensure employee records are accurate and up to date in the HRIS system
- Responds to government requests for unemployment information and hearings
- Ensure legal compliance with all applicable local state and federal employment laws, including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA and ADA, and AA to minimize risk/exposure to the company
- Maintain standards of strict confidentiality with respect to all matters and documents
- Champion and foster company vision, values and culture by ensuring individual/team actions and behaviors are in alignment
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or related field from accredited College or University
- At least 1 year of previous work experience in HR role
- Understanding of employment and labor law
- Technical proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to build productive professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability work alongside a broader team, but can also work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Proven analytical capability and problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills including written and verbal communications
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and take on additional HR projects as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field from accredited College or University preferred, but not required
- Previous experience working in or supporting a unionized manufacturing environment preferred, but not required
Compensation Information: Salary Range: $67,929 to $105,139. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
